Mary Obia Elledge is a first-gen Nigerian American who grew up in the Midwest, went to school on the east coast, and found herself in the American south before leaping to California to chase her tech startup dreams.
As the inaugural UX content contributor, it was my job to establish the content strategy discipline within the organization. I worked with designers, developers, and product managers to create interfaces for complex Web3 features, including cryptocurrency wallets and decentralized governance tools. I also collaborated with UX reasearchers to test designs and copy for user comprehension.
I made an intentional choice to leave Silicon Valley — where career opportunities were many, but personal fulfillment seemed to be lacking. After our jobs in California, my husband and I did The Great American Roadtrip and visited family. During the trip and in the following months I spent time learning about cryptocurrency and blockchain tech. Read about why I decided to take a break & my intentions for what's next.
As part of the UX Content Strategy family, my team's focus is on creating content for Google's famous ads-serving platform, AdWords. This requires frequent and extensive collaboration with product manager and designers to create the user interface. We also team with support and operations groups to understand customer pain points and create help articles that address their learning needs.
The content management team at Walmart.com was responsible for producing shoppable content for the eCommerce website. The role focused on strategy and project management of sponsored article integrations.
In this independent consultancy I helped clients with everything content-related: including blogging, social media, editorial management, product descriptions and SEO.
The Status.im organization stands upon a number of core principles that drive all development. My work with the team gave me the opportunity to do go beyond business strategy and examine the philosophical "why" of product content.
